Take last year’s RS:11 Skate ski, modify the Beta profile by 20%. Result: a new skate ski. The best soft track ski got better. Softer tip but no reduction in stability. The pure Type C distribution still remains and longer tail pressure keeps it straight -- the 42 mm sidecut with arrowhead shaped shovel reduces edge friction and so again, the Atomic Worldcup Skate is the fastest soft to medium track ski on the market.

The new tip is 20% thinner and the transition pressure is softer and smoother. The bench test data shows significant change with binding placement, as one would expect in a soft track ski. It’s the pressure distribution that effects performance so the pressure distribution should dictate the binding location.

SRG Test Summary

General: Type C distribution is remarkably fast in soft track. The trick is stability that doesn't feel like a plank.
Glide: A new soft track record -- 9.85.
Stability: The arrowhead shovel widens at the front contact -- improved tracking for a fast front end. Binding location critical.
Skate Edge: Arrowhead gives smooth glide during push off. Edge stability is 9.3+.
