whole slew of Klister conditions when it is extremely difficult to get the best possible kick wax. This is especially true for spring conditions when you go from warm sun baked field with wet snow that may require red or yellow klister, then you are in shady woods where you want a blue or purple klister, and then you find yourself skiing in hardened slush. We decided to make a waxless racing ski that is primarily aimed at those very difficult to wax for conditions at 32 F, but this same ski will be competitive for all klister conditions. We achieved this goal by creating an insert for the kick zone that is made up of cork, a soft polyethylene and unlike the others, we included some rubber. The end result is a classic waxless racing ski that is competitive for a broad range of conditions. Listed below is a list of various kick waxes with a brief rating for how well the Multi works in those conditions:
PURPLE AND COLDER HARD WAX: performance is very poor. Do not use the Multi's in these conditions.
VIOLET, RED AND YELLOW KLISTER: performance of the Multi can be very good to excellent in these conditions.
GREEN AND BLUE KLISTER: performance of the Multi is fair to good in these conditions. Keep in mind that the Multi will not rub off the way blue klister will in these icy conditions.
You can improve the grip of the Multi in conditions right around 32 F by roughing up the kick zone with 150 grit sandpaper. The sanding is not necessary for temps much about 35 F. The kick zone does not require any kind of maintenance. However, it will have faster glide if you occasionally place a liquid rub on wax like Toko HelX in the kick zone. B e sure to rub it off completely and your grip may not be real good for a couple of kilometers after applying a rub on wax, but it will be fine after about 10 minutes of skiing. |
