Binding location
is critical to performance. Mounting the binding two or
three cm off can turn a good ski into a dog. In older skating skis and classic skis the
load on the ski should be centered on the stiffest part of the ski. Too far forward and
the tail skids out of control, too far back and the tip plows or vibrates. Most of the new
cap ski construction skating skis are designed to be loaded in back of the stiffest point.
This is new in the last two years. NOTE: Any boots with an energyzer changes the binding location. The new Pilot
and NNN-R3 bindings both change the pressure distribution.
